Seeking to mount pressure on the government to announce a time-frame for the formation of separate Telangana, TRS MLAs tonight asked the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy to accept their resignations.

The TRS MLAs held a sit-in at the residence of the speaker demanding that he accept their resignations immediately.

"We told him that we cannot continue in our posts as a number of Telangana youths are committing suicides. He told us that he would talk to us personally in the next few days and take a decision," TRS floor leader in the assembly E Rajender told reporters.

The TRS' decision to mount pressure on the Speaker came on a day a student allegedly committed suicide at the Osmania University here in support of a separate state of Telangana.

Angry over the alleged suicide of the student, students of the Osmania University did not allow his body to be lifted from the campus.

They demanded that the public representatives from Telangana quit immediately to mount pressure on the Centre to announce a clear timeframe for the formation of separate Telangana.

Under pressure from the students, the all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) today decided to call a meeting of the public representatives to impress upon them to quit their posts.

As the TRS MLAs refused to leave from the Speaker's residence until their resignations are accepted, police forcefully removed them from the place. TRS has eight MLAs in the state assembly.
