Trouble-torn areas of Bareilly peaceful

No fresh incident has been reported from the curfew-bound four police station areas of Prem Nagar, Qila, Kotwali and Baradari since yesterday.

Friday prayers passed off peacefully in the trouble-torn Bareilly town today with police relaxing curfew in the four police station areas which had witnessed clashes over taking out of a religious procession on Tuesday.
   
Home department sources here said that no fresh incident has been reported from the curfew-bound four police station areas of Prem Nagar, Qila, Kotwali and Baradari since yesterday and the situation was fast returning to normal.
        
Meeting of peace committee comprising eminent citizens was also organised with the commissioner and Bareilly IG to restore order.
        
On Tuesday, curfew was clamped after communal clashes over taking out the religious procession in which around half a dozen shops and houses were set on fire.
       
As many as 59 people have so far been taken into custody in connection with the clashes, sources added.
