Trains, flights find their way in fog, but are delayed in Ahmedabad

Fog thinned somewhat on Monday in the distant Delhi, and Ahmedabad travellers were spared of the anxiety of cancellations, but they had to endure delays and uncertainty. The New Delhi-bound Swarn Jayanti Rajdhani Express (train number 2957) from Ahmedabad was re-scheduled while the Saurashtra Janta Holiday Special (train number 0917) reached Ahmedabad two hours late because of early morning fog.

The holiday special departed 15 minutes late from Mumbai on Sunday, its original departure time being 11.25 pm. Further, the train had to make an unscheduled halt because the fog thickened, impairing visibility. It reached Ahmedabad at around 10 am in instead of 7.30 am, its expected arrival time. The delay affected the passengers who had to reach their offices.

"The delay has forced me to miss the office today. I expected to reach Ahmedabad at around 7.30 am and reach office on time, but the fog ruined my entire day" said Khushbu Shah, who resides near Sola road and works with Vodafone.

Likewise passengers of Swarn Jayanti Rajdhhani express train had to wait longer than expected as the train was re-scheduled to 8.15 pm from the original departure time of 5.25 pm. The train was re-scheduled as it reached Ahmedabad late on Monday.

Flight operations in the city were normal as the fog condition improved.
