A top Lashkar-e-Toiba militant had taken part in the recent unrest in Kashmir Valley and had even hurled stones at security forces, police said today.

Adullah Yuni, a self-styled LeT division commander in North Kashmir, is a Pakistani national and is one of the most wanted militants in the Valley, DIG Munir Khan said.

"The surprising thing is that militants like Yuni not only sponsored the protests but also physically participated in stone-pelting in Sopore," he said.

The militant was involved in half-a-dozen gunfights with security forces but had survived each time.

Earlier intelligence reports said the militant had crossed over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in May this year.
