TN CM lashes out at Jayalalithaa

Flaying AIADMK leader Jayalalithaa for her remarks that DMK government had not done anything to increase procurement price of sugarcane,chief minister M Karunanidhi today alleged she was indulging in a 'mischievious campaign nursing the hope of becoming chief minister again'.

Joining issue with Jayalalithaa, who alleged during an agitation at Villupuram yesterday on the sugarcane price, Karunanidhi said she was tyring to ''blow things out of proportion and attempting to build up the people's support, which was declining''.

Describing her charges as 'bundle of lies', he said, in a statement, she suppressed the facts on DMK's efforts on increasing sugarcane procurement price during its regime.

Karunanidhi said Jayalalithaa had also suppressed the fact that during her regime (2003-04) and (2004-05) the sugar production was 9.2 lakh and 11.09 lakh tons respectively. 

"Instead she has quoted the figures for 2005-06 alone and misled the people", he said. 

He said during his regime (2006-07) the sugar production was 25.39 lakh ton, which was the highest output in the last ten years.
