Thunderbolt kills girl in Rameswaram

A 12-year old girl was killed when thunderbolt struck her early this morning as unseasonal heavy rains lashed this island, causing panic among the residents.
    
E Sathya was coming out of her house at Khavukadu when the incident occurred, Police said. She died on the spot.
    
As most of the thunderbolts landed on the sea there was not much casualty in the island.
    
The unusual summer rain was heavy and blinding and was accompanied by strong wind and loud outburst of thunder which caused panic among the island dwellers, the meterological department officials said.
