Three suicides recorded in Pune in 48 hours

Three people, including two women, committed suicide in the city in the last 24 hours. On Monday at about 9 am a woman labourer, Maya Rajudas Adityadas (30) committed suicide at her Sinhagad Road residence by hanging herself.

She had a quarrel with her husband on Sunday night. Her husband and child are absconding.

A share trader, Vilas Patil (30) and son of a former police official, ended his life at a lodge in Budhwar Peth by slitting the veins of both his hands. The police recovered a suicide note, where Vilas stated that he had a quarrel with some person due to which he has committed suicide. A 29-year-old housewife, Amita Gupta, a resident of Handewadi area under Wanavdi police station, hanged herself. The victim’s father has lodged a complaint against his son-in-law, Vivekchandra, holding him responsible. The police have arrested Vivekchandra, who is a software engineer.

Another held for duping youths
The Pune police crime branch on Monday arrested a second suspect, Mobin Noormohammad Sayyed (36), of New Mangalwar Peth, for allegedly duping four youths by promising them jobs in the quick response team (QRT) of the state police. The police had earlier arrested Sagar Vasant Kamble (24) of Yerawada in the same case. After being produced in the court, Sayyed was remanded in police custody till May 19.

Gang murders criminal
A 29-year-old history sheeter was hacked to death by a gang of 10 in Kondhwa Budruk late on Sunday night. The police suspect he was murdered due to old enmity between two gangs. The Haveli police identified the deceased as Wasim Shaikh alias Wasim Khada, a resident of Kondhwa.

Inspector AD Patil of Haveli police station said no one has been arrested as yet. “We have launched a search operation,” he added. Wasim Khada was part of a faction of the Feroz Bengali gang, formed after Bengali’s death in 2010.
