Three persons of a family killed in an accident in Uttaranchal

Three members of a family were killed when a motorcycle on which they were riding collided with a speeding truck at Dehra Dun-Haridwar bypass road, police said today.

The incident took place last evening when Deepak Dikshit (27), a resident of Saraswati Vihar, was going with his wife Anjali (22) and son Chirag (2) on the motorcycle when the truck hit them. The bike was dragged upto half-a-kilometer after the collision, they said.

They were soon rushed to the Doon hospital, where all of them were declared brought dead, they said adding that the bodies have been sent for postmortem. The truck driver managed to flee from the spot.

Locals blocked the bypass demanding immediate arrest of the truck driver. The block was lifted when senior police officers assured them of stern action against the accused.
