The Government appointed three new governors and moved the serving Jharkhand Governor Sibte Razi to Assam in a gubernatorial reshuffle late on Saturday evening. In the process it has also rehabilitated senior Congress leaders.
Alva has been made governor of Uttrakhand replacing B.L. Joshi who has been moved to UP, while K. Shankar Narayanan has been shifted from Nagaland to Jharkhand.
Joshi replaces for IB Chief Rajeshwar as the governor of the politically sensitive state of UP. B.L.Joshi is former police officer and was a part of Indira Gandhi's security set up, and has served as the Lt Governor of Delhi.
The other significant appointment is that of Devendranath Dwivedi former advocate general of India during P.V Narishimha rao's government. Dwivedi replaces Sharma in Gujarat. Pahadia former CM of Rajasthan will take over from A.R. Kidwai.
