Three crushed to death, villagers block highway

Three persons were crushed to death when a speeding truck hit their bike on Delhi-Dehradun national highway in the district following which irate villagers blocked the highway for several hours.

The incident occurred yesterday near Rampur Tiraha when the truck hit the motor-cycle borne persons, police said, adding the truck driver fled from the spot.

Enraged over the incident, locals pelted stones and blocked the highway for several hours in the night demanding immediate arrest of the truck driver. The blockade was lifted when senior police officers assured them of stern action against the accused driver.
