Three arrested in fake currency racket, Rs1.5 lakh seized in Lucknow

The trio was arrested when they were about to deliver the consignment to a party near the GRP line in Charbagh, they said.

Three persons, including a Nepalese, allegedly involved in fake Indian currency notes racket were arrested and counterfeit of Rs1.5 lakh was recovered from them by the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh police, officials said here.
   
Sameer Ali alias Ali Ahmad of Nepal, Ankit Verma alias Ram Murat Verma and Ram Yagya Verma were arrested by the STF on a tip off from Naka police area yesterday and fake currency worth Rs1.5 lakh in denomination of Rs 1,000, was seized from their possession, they said.

The trio was arrested when they were about to deliver the consignment to a party near the GRP line in Charbagh, they said.

STF officials claimed that Sameer was the main supplier of the fake currency.
