Observing the third death anniversary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kanshi Ram, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today said as a tribute to him, state government has initiated a host of projects and schemes in his name.
 
"The state government has constructed a memorial and created a district in the name of Kanshi Ram to make his memory eternal," Mayawati said while paying tributes to the BSP founder at 'Samtamoolak sthal' in Gomti Nagar.
 
She said her government has launched Kanshi Ram Urban Housing Scheme under which 1.01 lakh houses are being constructed in all the districts of the state. "The government has also instituted a sports award, a social harmony award and weaver award in the memory of the BSP founder," she said.
 
She said Kanshi Ram dedicated his entire life for uplift of SC/STs, backwards and downtrodden. "With the inspiration of Dalit saints, gurus and icons, he struggled to establish a casteless and equality based society," the CM said.
