The Anna Hazare-led agitation over the Lokpal Bill has given a fillip to the sale of Gandhi caps in the city.

Saurabh Jain, who sells propaganda material in Krishnapura Chhatri market, today told PTI that normally Gandhi caps were sold during election time or when there are marriages in the Maharashtrian community.

These days a large number of supporters of Hazare, particularly youngsters, were buying the Gandhi caps especially with those having the inscription "I am Anna", he said.

Many BJP workers in the city were also seen sporting the Gandhi cap during a demonstration held yesterday to protest the arrest of the anti-corruption crusader.

A BJP spokesman said the Gandhi cap was not associated by any political party as it was a symbol for those who walked on the path of truth and non-violence.

Hazare, the septuagenarian social activist who is always seen in public with his trademark Gandhi cap, has said he is inspired by the ideals of the Father of the Nation and Swami Vivekanand.
