As directed by the Madras high court (HC), the Tamil Nadu (TN) government submitted on Thursday a copy of the recommendations by the advisory panel on the release of Rajiv Gandhi murder accused Nalini Murugan.

Presenting the copy before a two-member bench of justices Elipe Dharma Rao and KK Sasidharan, advocate general PS Raman said the government needed more time to get clarifications from the advisory committee before taking a decision on Nalini’s release.

Rao asked the government to arrive at a decision “soon” as the case concerned the “liberty” of an individual. AG assured the court that the government would arrive at a decision after seeking the clarifications. The judges then adjourned the case to March 29.
