Swineflu toll in Orissa rises to 22

Meanwhile, in a bid to prevent panic among the people due to swineflu, the state government has already launched an awareness campaign about the disease through advertisements.

The death toll in Orissa due to swineflu rose to 22 today with three more persons, including two children, succumbing to the virus-borne disease in different hospitals here, official sources said.
 
The victims are an elderly woman from Angul, a four year old girl from Jajpur and a one-year-old boy from a village on the outskirts of this city, the sources said.
 
All the three victims are being treated at different private hospitals here.
 
Of the total swab tests conducted so far, 87 have been found to be positive to H1N1 virus. Seven more samples have been sent for swab test today, the sources said.
 
Meanwhile, in a bid to prevent panic among the people due to swineflu, the state government has already launched an awareness campaign about the disease through advertisements in newspapers and television channels.
 
Steps have been taken to ensure adequate supply of Tamiflu medicine for treatment of the disease as well as vaccines as preventive measure against the influenza in the state, the sources added.
