A Delhi court today sought a response from Tihar jail authorities after a suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorist appeared before it with a bandaged face complaining that he had been attacked inside his cell.

Taking a serious view of the incident, additional sessions judge Santosh Snehi Mann directed the jail authorities to transfer Salman to another cell.

The accused submitted that before the court he had been brutally assaulted by blade-wielding attackers inside his cell at Tihar Jail in New Delhi on August 27.

"This is something not acceptable at all," the judge remarked and sought a report tomorrow from Tihar Jail authorities on the incident.

Salman remained absconding after his name surfaced in the cases of the serial blasts in the capital on September 13, 2008 before being arrested by Uttar Pradesh police in March this year.

He made an oral submission during the on-going hearing on the arguments being advanced on charges to be framed against the accused in the five cases registered in connection with the blasts.

"Even after the incident, the authorities did not do anything. They are ready to do anything just for Rs500. I still apprehend serious threat to my life. I do not want to go to that cell in Tihar Jail which is full of blade-wielding attackers," Salman alleged.

To the court query as to who attacked him, he named one Deepak as one of the attackers. He claimed that there were 22 stitches in his face and head.

His counsel Khalil A Ansari and Iftikar Ahmed referred to two earlier applications filed by the accused apprehending danger to his life in the jail.

Resuming his arguments in the blast cases, Ansari sought discharge of IM suspects Mohd Hakim, Saquib Nissar and Shahzad claiming that the Delhi oolice had no evidence against them except disclosure statements.

He also read out some transcripts to buttress his point.

The arguments on the charges on behalf of the 14 suspects arrested so far in the five cases remained inconclusive and are likely to continue on the next date of hearing on September 14.

Out of the 14 suspects, a total of 11 accused are lodged at Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad for their alleged role in serial blasts there on July 26, 2008.
