FIR lodged against chief RTO inspector of Vadodara Hanif Beg Mirza and his two brothers for fraud.
An FIR has been registered against three government officials (who happen to be brothers) for fraud over land located in Atodara village of Olpad taluka in Surat district.
Earlier, the three brothers were found guilty of fraud by the
district collector who had enquired into a matter. The collector ordered that an FIR be registered against the three. The eldest brother is chief RTO inspector in Vadodara while the two younger brothers are talatis.
Ten acre land of block no 414 in Atodara village belonged to one Mahmud Aajam Beg, who died in 1963. The co-owner of the land was Beg's younger brother, Ghulam Mustafa Azaam Beg, who died in 1983. Both the brothers were based in South Africa.
As the families of the Beg brothers rarely visited Kamrej, Hanif Mohammad Beg Mirza, who is chief RTO inspector of Vadodara and also a native of Atodara, hatched a conspiracy to grab the land. With the help of his two brothers, Javed Mirza and G A Mirza, he prepared fake documents claiming to be the son of late Mahmud Aajam Beg.
"It happens that the name of the father of Hanif Mohammad Beg Mirza is also Mahmud Aajam Beg. Taking advantage of this coincidence, Hanif Mohammad prepared false documents to prove that he was the son of Mahmud. For this he prepared bogus certificates and other proofs and became owner of the land which is worth corers of rupees," a police official at Olpad police station said on the condition of anonymity.
To ensure that his fraud was not detected, Hanif Mohamad showed that Mahmud Aajam Beg had died at Atodara on December 27, 1999. He also created a bogus entry of his (Mahumd Aajam's) death in the records with the village panchayat. Along with this, Hanif Mohammad produced documents showing him as Mahmud Aajam's son and also made an entry into the panchayat records. The entry number of the incorrect fact is 3230.
Further, Hanif Mohammad produced fake documents in the panchayat showing that Ghulam Mustafa Aajam Beg (younger brother of Mahmud Aajam) had no kin and that he died in Atodara village on March 3, 1999. To sustain his claim, Hanif produced fake certificates and created an entry (number 3209) in panchayat books.
The fraud came to light when the actual successor to the land, Wajid Mirza, arrived in the village. On learning about the fraud, he lodged a complaint with district collector AJ Shah. During investigation, Shah found Wajid's complaint true. He ordered Olpad police to register a complaint against Hanif Mohammad and his brothers. They registered a case under sections 465, 466, 467, 471, 220D and 114 of the IPC against the three who are absconding since then.
