Civic rulers hinted that action can be taken against Patel after the outcome of departmental inquiry. BJP-ruled body deliberated the action taken by the police.
The complainant, on Friday, filed another application with police, seeking action against Patel under IT Act.
Fresh trouble seems to be brewing for Patel with SMC members discussing the next course of action on the issue. Members seemed divided on the issue with one section action against Patel and other section stressing on action only after the completion of a departmental inquiry. Sources said that according to provisions of BPMC Act, action can be initiated against the top official, if he is found misbehaving with his staff. However, SMC postponed any action, till the findings of the probe by the police.
"We will study BPMC Act, after which, if any action is warranted, the course of action will be decided. Right now, we have not decided about any action against Patel," Mukesh Dalal, chairman of standing committee, said.
Patel was produced before court late on Thursday evening, where he was released on bail. After getting bail, he said, "Jyoti has framed me and my family for her personal monetary gains. She owes me Rs2.5 lakh, which she doesn't want to return and so, has filed a complaint. I have also submitted proofs to the police in this regard and will bring other evidences."
Jyoti filed an application at women's police station on Friday, demanding action against Patel under IT (Information Technology) Act. She claimed that lewd SMSs' fall under category of section 67 of the act and so action can be taken under it.
