Surat police on Friday intensified their investigation in the murder of land broker Amit Kapasiwala. The cops have started verifying call records as well as details of his land holdings. District collector AJ Shah has also asked respective departments to ascertain how the false ownership papers of Kapasiwala’s land were made.

Kapasiwala’s large land holdings in Dumas and Gavier areas of Surat, is said to be the main reason behind his murder. His rivals had prepared fake papers for one of his land holdings by forging Kapasiwala’s PAN card and using fake finger-print impressions. This had been reported earlier by Kapasiwala and a case was also registered with Umra police.

Investigations reveal that Kapasiwala was getting calls threatening him with his life if he did not withdraw the police case.
Umra police produced Kapasiwala’s murderer Deepak Makwana in local court on Friday, where he was sent into police custody until January 9, 2012.
