Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's water supply committee discussed major issues affecting citizens in summer, at a meeting held on Wednesday.

During the zero hour discussion, Sarkhej councillor Haji Mirza Baig demanded that immediate action be taken to build the service road from Sarkhej Roza to Juhapura crossroads.

This road was excavated by the contractor six months back to lay the water drainage pipeline from Shrinand Nagar to Sarkhej Roza Lake.

"After digging up the road, the contractor did not bother to cover the road and left it open creating trouble for residents," said Mirza Baig.

Besides, Mirza Baig also raised the issue of providing Narmada water to 1,000 families of Shrinand Nagar. He said that the residents living in Shrinand Nagar 1 to 5 and other societies like Shri Krishna Nagar and Aum Shanti Nagar have been facing acute water shortage for many years.

"We have asked the water committee chairman to provide Narmada water to these families immediately," said Mirza Baig. He added that although the residents had earlier presented the matter to the authorities several times, nothing concrete has been done yet.

Also, during summers, many areas suffer from the problem of low water pressure. During the zero hour discussion, Vadaj councillor Naran Patel along with Mirza Baig raised the issue of insufficient water pressure in the area. According to them, the water pressure in Chikuwadi behind Sarkhej Roza is very low and this needs to be rectified immediately.
