The Jammu and Kashmir police will set up special reception and assistance booths for pilgrims visiting the 3,880 mt-high Amarnath cave shrine.
"Security and other arrangements will be made for pilgrims from Lakhanpur (gateway to J-K) to the cave. Special reception and assistance booths will be established at different locations in the state to assist people enroute the yatra," director general of police Kuldeep Khoda said yesterday after reviewing arrangements in connection with the annual yatra that would commence from July one.

It has been decided that sufficient manpower will be deployed on both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes to ensure the smooth flow of traffic so that pilgrims do not face any inconvenience, he said, adding it will be ensured that no pilgrim visits the shrine before schedule.
Khoda said special 'Yatra Control Rooms' will be set up at several destinations across the state, which will work round the clock and coordinate with the security agencies.
He said senior officers will review on a daily basis the working of these control rooms, which will function as assistance booths for pilgrims and inform them about daily weather reports received from the Met department.
Khoda said better communication network system will be set up at different locations across the state up to the cave to facilitate better coordination among the agencies.
Medical aid camps will be established at various places for police, security personnel as well as pilgrims, he said.
