Congress president Sonia Gandhi today met the family members of Gaya Prasad Shukla, a close associate of former prime minister Indira Gandhi who passed away here a couple of days back.

Gandhi, on a day's visit to her parliamentary constituency, arrived at the Fursatganj air strip and after a brief halt at ITI, drove straight to the Central office of the district Congress where the veteran freedom fighter lived along with his family.

The Congress president later reached 'Bachat Bhawan' at the district headquarters to chair the monitoring and vigilance committee meeting to review the progress of the ongoing developmental programmes in the district.
