Sohrabuddin case: NK Amin's wife raises concern over husband's security

The wife of NK Amin, an accused in the Sohrabuddin Shaikh fake encounter case, has expressed concerns about her husband's security in jail, following an allegation by an undertrial that he was offered Rs10 lakh to kill Amin.

Amin's wife, Jayshree had made an application to the CBI seeking more security for her husband in jail, which the investigating agency today placed before a special CBI court.

Additional chief judicial magistrate AI Rawal, based on the application, asked the Sabarmati jail authorities to provide details about security arrangements there and scheduled the final hearing on the matter on August 26.

In her application, Jayshree has said after the revelation by an undertrial Shakeel alias Teja Yusuf Sheikh last week in Vadodara that he was offered Rs10 lakh to kill Amin in jail, she was concerned about her husband's security.

Shakeel who was arrested in a rioting case in Vadodara had made the revelation before the court last week.

She further said Shakeel's statement has made the entire atmosphere inside jail more suspicious and hence the security of her husband needs to be increased.

Amin has offered to become an approver in the fake encounter case, decision on which is reserved for August 26.

Eight other accused in the case including DG Vanzara have opposed Amin plea of becoming an approver in the case.
