There is more trouble brewing for former minister of state for home Amit Shah. After police officers and owners of Popular Builders, now Shah’s former personal secretary has given the CBI a statement that clearly suggests Shah’s involvement in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

Palak Shah, who was personal assistant to Shah for more than a decade, has said in his statement that before and after the encounter, police officers, including DG Vanzara, Raj Kumar Pandiyan, Abhay Chudasma and Narendra Amin, were regular visitors not only to the minister’s office but also to his residence.

He has also said that OP Mathur had once or twice met the minister but that was at BJP party office.  Palak’s revelation has been cited in the statement attached as evidence with the supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI on Friday last.

Palak has disclosed that during November — December 2005, the call records of Amit Shah suggested that the minister had spoken to Narendra Amin for more than 25 times. While Amit Shah made most of the calls to Amin from his landline, Amin preferred to call him on his mobile from his personal cellphone.

Besides, the CBI chargesheet also says that the then ADGP (CID-Crime) GC Raigar had alleged pressure from the home minister during the encounter probe. As per his statement to the CBI, he was shifted out of the CID-Crime when he did not follow the "illegal" instructions of the minister.

"I felt inconvenient and was not adjusting myself to the post of ADGP (CID-Crime) as there was continuous pressure on me from the home minister. He was not happy with my work because I did not follow the illegal instructions passed by him in the investigation of the case," Raigar stated in his statement. Raigar further stated that due to constant interference in his functioning, he opted to leave the post and approached his seniors for a transfer. He was accordingly transferred but was asked to vacate the office on the same day which he found very humiliating.

"Subsequently, I came to know that it was the instruction of home minister Amit Shah that I should hand over the charge of the CID- Crime immediately as he wanted to put an officer of his choice in the CID who could follow his instructions,'' he said in his statement.
