The CBI has completed the process of sending these documents to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to authenticate them and make them legally strong.
The outcome of the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter that the Central Bureau of Investigation is now minutely investigating, could well depend upon the evidences based on audio and video recordings.
The CBI has gathered vital evidence in the case in the form of audio and video recordings. The independent agency has also completed the process of sending these documents to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to authenticate them and make them legally strong.
Raman Patel and Dashrath Patel, proprietors of Popular Builders and Dr. NK Amin, former deputy superintendent of the detection of crime branch (DCB) are the main whistle blowers in the case.
The builder brothers have made more than five video tapes of Abhay Chudasama, Ajay Patel and Yashpal Chudasama threatening them to not co-operate with the CBI, at the behest of the former minister, Amit Shah. These tapes have helped the CBI to directly nail four persons including Amit Shah so far and make them accused in the fake encounter case.
Dr. Amin has also make an audio tape with his conversation with co-accused NV Chauhan, former police inspector of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). NV Chauhan was told by Dr. Amin that Vanzara and Amit Shah were in frequent touch over mobile phones during the period of the encounter and Shah issued instructions to eliminate Kausarbi as she had become a threat to the cops after the killing of her husband in a staged encounter.
According to sources, the CBI does not want to take any chance as it is being directly monitored by the Supreme Court. It does not want a single witness retract from his or her statement. Therefore, it has taken statements of many accused either before the judicial magistrate or done a videography. All audio and video tapes are sent to FSL to establish its originality so the evidence cannot be challenged during the course of the trial.
The CBI also seized a spy camera in form of key chains used by the builder brothers and a few pen drives in which they stored video recordings. An audio recording gadget used by Dr. Amin is also in possession of the CBI and has been sent it to the FSL. Apart from this, the agency has many CDs that have audio and video recordings of the witnesses. It also has transcripts of the recordings.
These evidences will prove crucial during trial as the judge would be able to clearly examine the evidences. Earlier, written statements were produced in court, there were many chances for witness to turn hostile.
