Six Sri lankan refugees arrested in Tamil Nadu

Police said the refugees had left the camps at Karur, Erode, Tiruchirapalli and Bhavani sagar camps on March 31 and engaged a boat at Rameswaram to go back to Sri Lanka.

Six Sri lankan refugees were arrested at the fourth sand dune off Danushkodi coast today when they were going back to the island nation, for leaving their camps in the district without informing authorities.
   
Police said the refugees had left the camps at Karur, Erode, Tiruchirapalli and Bhavani sagar camps on March 31 and engaged a boat at Rameswaram to go back to Sri Lanka.
  
However ferry operators dropped them off at the fourth sand dune, misleading them by saying it was Talaimannar and they could go to Jaffna from there, police said
  
The refugees told the officials that they had remained stranded at the sand dune since March 31.
