SIMI activist taken to Wagamon for investigation

A suspected activist of banned Students Islamic Movement of India, arrested for his alleged involvement in 2008 Ahmedabad serial bomb blasts, was today brought to Wagamon in neighbouring Idukki district where he had attended a secret training camp of the outfit in 2007, police said.
    
Mohammed Yunus (30), a native of Madhya Pradesh, was taken to Wagamon by Ahmedabad assistant police commissioner Mayur Chawla along with officials of Anti-Terrorism squad of Kerala police for gathering evidence about the alleged holding of the camp.
    
He was taken to Kolahalamedu and Thangalpara in Wagamon where 37 SIMI activists had participated in the three-day camp where training was given on manufacture of petrol bombs, use of air gun, rope climbing and fasting among other things, police said.
    
Of the 37, twenty-six persons are under police custody in various states and the remaining accused are at large. So far, seven of the arrested had been taken to Wagamon for gathering evidence. Yunus was later taken back to Ahmedabad, they said.
