Amdavadis will have to wait for at least one more week for monsoon showers as there are no signs of it hitting Gujarat shore before June 22. According to the state meteorological department, this too will happen only when rain clouds reach Mumbai by June 20.

“Monsoon has not reached Mumbai. Usually, it takes three to four days for monsoon to reach Gujarat from Mumbai. So, we can expect monsoon clouds in Gujarat a few days after they hit Mumbai," said director, meteorology department, Kamaljit Ray.  The Met department predicts formation of thundercloud in the evening or night in the next 24 to 48 hours. Maximum temperature will remain around 41 degree in the next 24 hours.  People are eagerly awaiting arrival of monsoon, so that they could get respite from the excruciating weather conditions.

“As I expect that the monsoon will arrive on time, I have already bought a colourful raincoat and an umbrella for me and my daughter," said Tejal Jha, a housewife.  On Tuesday, Ahmedabad registered maximum temperature of 40.5 degree Celsius and minimum temperature of 28.6 degree Celsius.  State forecast suggests that weather will remain generally sunny in all districts of Gujarat and Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
