Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit still feels "hurt" over the intense media criticism in the run-up to Commonwealth Games last year and says people who made the event a success must be given due credit.

Addressing HT Leadership Summit here, Dikshit recounted those days in the run up to the mega event and said the criticism by the media that it will be a "shame games" was very hurtful.

"The Games we organised here has been described as best ever Games in its history. We have done a very good job. Lets pat ourselves for it," she said, adding allegations of corruptions in hosting of the Games are being looked into and those found guilty will be punished.

"I know there were mistakes. Things are being looked at and those responsible will be punished," she said replying to a question. She said huge multiplicity of authorities also contributed to delays in CWG projects.

Asked whether Delhi should be given full statehood, she said the government has been ensuring overall development of the city despite facing various hurdles due to multilplicity of authorities.

She identified migration and increasing population as one of the major challenges and stated that rising number of vehicles, which is around 70 lakh now, has been putting lot of presure on infrastructure.

In this regard, she said the government would come up with more bus rapid corridors in the city to improve road infrastructure.

Noting that government is in the process of trifurcating MCD, Dikshit said splitting the civic agency into three parts will result in better delivery of services.

During her 20-minute speech, she highlighted achievements of her government in power, transport, education and health sectors.

Replying to question on whether "high command culture" in Congress was not encouraging strong chief ministers, she answered in the negative.

"I do not think they have stopped us from doing anything which is good. Much has been made of it which is not correct," she said in the presence of her Maharastra counterpart Prithviraj Chavan and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh. Replying to the same question, Singh said central leaders of BJP always encourage him for good work and he never faced any interference in his almost eight-year tenure.

Asked whether Rahul Gandhi should become Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh before becoming Prime Minister, Dikshit first refused to reply but later said it was up to him to decide.
