There’s more trouble for former Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh. The former scion of the Patiala royal family, who is already under the scanner in a disproportionate assets case, has been accused of  “sexual exploitation”.

Last Saturday, Rajinder Kaur from Jalandhar formally filed a complaint to the police that she was “promised a government job and sexually abused by Amarinder Singh when he was chief minister.” Amarinder rebutted the charges on Monday, saying, “My rivals are doing this to malign my image just before the appointment of a new Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) chief.

The women, however, alleged that the police did not register a case all these years despite her repeated attempts. She said  Amarinder’s former media adviser, BIS  Chahal, had taken her to the CM’s farmhouse  near Shimla where she was “sexually exploited”.

Amarinder Singh said that Shamsher Singh Sanghera, the man with Rajinder Kaur at the press conference where she levelled the charge, had been booked for rape in 2003.
“I have never met Sanghera or this lady who has made this outrageous charge. This lady earlier made a similar accusation against a sitting judge,” Amarinder added.
