Cops are taking a re-look at safety arrangements at certain places.
The Pune bomb blast has got the Ahmedabad police busy reviewing the security of vital installations in the city. They are particularly concentrating on installations that are likely to be on the terrorist's hit list. The police have reportedly reviewed the security measures for over 10 vital installations.
The vital installations include religious places, government offices as well as educational institutions. Joint commissioner of police, sector 1, Satish Sharma told DNA that security at vital installations had already been enhanced but at present a review of the same was being considered.
Sharma, however, refused to reveal the name and number of installations reviewed. Sources said that the police have also been intimated by the Centre to carry out a review of security measures.
Sources in the police said that the cops are busy checking for the security measures in places like Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur, IIM-A, Physical Research Laboratory, Kalupur Railway Station and some malls and multiplexes. A source said that the police don't want to leave anything to chance.
"Immediately after the Bangalore blast in 2008, there was a blast in the city. To avoid a repetition, an alert was issued and cops have been asked to remain vigilant," a source said.
Mohsin Chaudhary, who is believed to be the mastermind of Pune blast, is also wanted in connection with the Ahmedabad serial blast of July 2008.
"Riyaz Batkal, Iqbal Batkal and Abdul Subhan Qureshi alias Tauqueer were the mastermind of the Ahmedabad blasts and there module is been replicated in Pune," a source said.
The source said this could mean that there may be a repeat of the serial bomb blast. The police have also begun checking all hotels in the city. They are also keeping a close watch on the activities of the history-sheeters.
