Second attack on National Conference MLA's residence in Kashmir

A group of heavily armed militants fired at the residence of the MLA, but guards posted there retaliated, the police said adding that there was no loss of life in the exchange of fire.

In the second such incident within a week, militants attacked the residence of ruling National Conference MLA Mohammad Ashraf Ganai in Sopore town of north Kashmir in the wee hours today, the police said.

A group of heavily armed militants fired at the residence of the MLA, but guards posted there retaliated, they said adding there was no loss of life in the exchange of fire.

Militants had attacked the residence of Ganai on August 18 resulting in the death of a special police officer and injuries to two constables.

Ganai was not present on both the occasions when militants attacked his residence, 55 km from Srinagar.
