The BJP's protest march in the city against the "CBI action" remained low-key on Wednesday, as not many party workers and local leaders joined it. Although top leaders, including Bharatsinh Parmar, state BJP secretary Pravin Naik and City BJP president Purnesh Modi participated, many councillors and ward presidents skipped the protest.

The protest was organised at Makkai pool near Chowk Bazaar on Wednesday morning. Party workers shouted slogans against the Congress for hyping up the Soharabbudin Sheikh case and accused the CBI for working at the behest of the Congress-led UPA government.

Though the programme was to begin at 10 am, it started at 11 am due to poor presence of party workers. This was because of rising temperature and humidity.

Only a handful of party workers were seen standing in the heat, whereas majority of them were protesting under the tent provided by the party. Even in the rally organised from Makkai pool to district collector's office, party workers took the shortest route and ended the rally as soon as possible.

However, a top party leader said: "The soaring temperature kept few workers away from the protest. But our programme remained successful. Our workers are always there whenever party needs them."
