School building collapses in Faizabad three girls killed

Three girl students were killed and more than ten seriously injured when a makeshift school building collapsed in a village school here today.

The non-recognised school in Dharamganj village of Bikapur sub-district had a thatched roof and mud walls. The injured have been admitted to district hospital and the dead have been identified as Archna (8), Anshika (9) and Puja (14).

Faizabad additional district magistrate Krishna Kumar said the school was being run illegally as it had no recognition from the government or permission from the district authorities.

"We have lodged an FIR against Ram Kumar Maurya, the owner of the school," Kumar said. Officials said that the school had a strength of 250 students.
