Terming BSP's proposed rally to celebrate its silver jubilee as an exercise to collect funds, Samajwadi Party today said it would protest against the event on March 15.

"Chief minister Mayawati has nothing to do with soaring prices, deteriorating law and order situation and communal clashes, BSP government is only realising funds in the name of the rally," senior SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav told reporters.

Dubbing the proposed rally on March 15 as "loot diwas" (looting day), Yadav said the SP would stage demonstrations against it.

Accusing the BSP government of flaring communal tension in Bareilly, he alleged ulemas (clerics) were being insulted and innocent persons were being framed in the name of riots.

The SP leader demanded immediate release of Maulana Tauqeer Ahmad arrested in connection with riots and said a judicial inquiry should be ordered into the Bareilly riots.
