Russian engineer missing from Alang in Gujarat

A Russian ship engineer is missing for the past 13 days from Alang. The engineer was on LPG Carrier Summerset, which touched Alang on July 11. The 19 crew of Summerset were supposed to reach plot number 113 (Agrasen Ship Breakers) on July 17.

Soon after breaking out, 18 members of the team reached the plot on a boat, but electrical engineer Yasil Yev Angeni was not traceable and Captain Keshkov immediately lodged a complaint with the Alang police.

Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB), Alang Police, Marine Police and Customs officials have launched an operation to locate the missing engineer.

Bhavnagar SP Chandrashekhar said digital camera of the missing Russian was found in damaged condition near the ship. “It is likely that Angeni might have fallen down from the ship while taking pictures with his camera.

We have searched the entire area but he is yet to be located,” he said. Though, the police have ruled out any foul play, they are keeping all options open.
