The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Wednesday proposed a budget of Rs713.86 crore for the financial year of 2012-13. The budget presented by the municipal commissioner of VMC Ashwini Kumar for the year 2012-13 witnessed many of the major projects for the city, including allocation of Rs235 crore for developing 100% wall to wall roads among others.

The city will also soon have four multi specialty hospitals at a cost of Rs40 crore. Though, the budget did not see more of major projects, but the commissioner focused on providing basic amenities to the citizens. He stated the need for basic amenities in the city due to which by the year end VMC will be aiming to provide 100% water supply, 100% drainage and ring roads (inner and outer) to be completed.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Kumar said that the cultural capital of the state is developing and for which VMC is developing a new auditorium named Sir Sayajirao Nagargruh with 1,000 seats capacity and developing night market where arts and culture will be promoted. However, various difficulties like encroachment removal, approval from railway/highway authority and other departments.
