Rita Bhuguna Joshi, party workers arrested, released

Uttar Pradesh Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and other leaders were arrested this morning while they were on their way to trouble-torn Bareilly town.

"Joshi accompanied by Ranjit Singh Judev, Shyam Kishore Shukla (legislators) and other senior leaders was on her way to Bareilly when they were arrested in Itaunja and taken to the police lines and were later released", Congress spokesman Dwijendra Tripathi said.

The delegation was going to the town which had witnessed clashes over taking out of a religious procession on Tuesday after which curfew was clamped in four police station areas, Tripathi said.

Earlier, leaders of BJP and Samajwadi Party were also stopped from going.
