The opposition BJP in Rajasthan today demanded revocation of suspension of its MLA Bhawani Singh Rajawat, who had thrown a footwear towards Congress members during a heated exchange during the monsoon session of the assembly.

This was stated after a meeting on the eve of the budget session in which the Opposition decided to corner the government on several issues including law and order situation.

"In the meeting, it was proposed to demand revocation of Rajawat's suspension from the house proceedings for which the leader of opposition Vasundhara Raje is meeting Vidhansabha Speaker DS Shekhawat and chief minister Ashok Gehlot in the evening," Deputy Leader of Opposition Ghanshyam Tiwari said after the meeting.

Rajawat was suspended for one year from the house on August 29 last year after he was found guilty of hurling a sandal towards Congress members following a heated exchange with ruling party legislators during Monsoon session.

He had hurled the shoe at the Congress members after a ruling party MLA Raghu Sharma interrupted BJP MLA Pramila Kundara while she was speaking in the house during the zero hour.

Raghu had allegedly made some comments against Kundara which led to the ugly scenes in the assembly.

Raghu Sharma is now the Government Chief whip in the assembly.

"Several members were of the view that misuse of CBI by the state government should be raised in the assembly and we would do it. Besides, Gopalgarh firing, deteriorating law and order situation, poor governance, corruption of ministers will be among other issues we will raise," he said.

Tiwari also said that the Opposition wanted a long session so all efforts would be made from their side to ensure smooth functioning of the house and no disruptions during the session.
