The Met department on Wednesday predicted a cooler than usual Republic Day for Ahmedabad. However, temperatures won't dip enough to be called a cold wave.

According to weather officials, city will witness one to two degrees fall in temperature over next couple of days. "The temperature may go down a bit, but it will not be much. The dip is courtesy western disturbances and the northerly winds, which are usually cold. Although there will not be a cold wave, temperatures are likely to hover around 10 or 11 degree Celsius," said Kamaljit Ray, director - India Meteorological Department (IMD), Gujarat.

The Met department has predicted minimum temperature of 12 degree Celsius and a maximum of 30 degree Celsius on Thursday.

Ahmedabad's fluctuating weather has bemused visitors to the city. "I don't know if this is winter or not! At times it is very cold, next day it's hot like summers. Over last two-three days we have ended up experiencing two different seasons," said Amrita Sharma, who lives in Rajasthan. Abhishek Jha, an engineer, is surprised by whimsical weather. "Although I wasn't in Ahmedabad for past couple of days, my friends there told me that it is extreme cold and then as hot on another day," said Jha.
