A resident of Jashodanagar committed suicide late on Friday night after her husband refused to buy her a chaniya choli for Navratri. Heena Kataria (20) and her husband, Kaushik (25), had attended a garba celebration on Friday and had quarrelled over a new chaniya choli after returning home.
Kataria, a resident of Navi Vasahat in the area, had asked her husband, a petty labourer in the area, to purchase her a chaniya choli for the garba. He had instead borrowed one from a neighbour. “After the couple returned from garba, they quarrelled after Heena questioned his financial ability to purchase a new chaniya choli,” a source in the police said.
Late in the night, she hanged herself in the house. “When Kaushik got up in the morning, he found his wife dead,” the source said.
