Rains lash Ahmedabad, also drench arid Kutch

While Kutch district received moderate to heavy rains in the last 24 hour, Ahmedabad city also received moderate showers.

The rain gods continued to shower their blessing on Gujarat on the third consecutive day on Wednesday. While Kutch district received moderate to heavy rains in the last 24 hour, Ahmedabad city also received moderate showers. According to the Met department, the current spell of rain is likely to continue in the coming days.

To the much relief of Kutchi madus (people of Kutch), the rains marked their entry into the region.  All the 10 talukas of the district recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours.

Rapar received 154 mm, the highest in the district. The rains brought smiles on the faces of the people of the region which had so far not received any rains.

As per the data provided by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Ahmedabad city received average 31.27 mm rainfall in its five zones in the 24 hours concluding at 4:00pm on Wednesday.

West zone with 34.31mm recorded the highest amount of rain. Till now, the city has received total 364.9 mm of rain this season, which is 97.1mm less then normal. The Met department has predicted that the city will continue to receive moderate to heavy rains in the next 24 hours.

The weather forecast for the state says that moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers will occur at most places in the all the districts of Gujarat, Diu-Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. However, current favourable weather conditions for rain may gradually weaken, the weatherman said.
