Railways announce Rs5 lakh for kin of dead in Tundla mishap

While work is on to restore the track at the mishap spot, a number of trains have been diverted via other routes.

Railways today announced an ex-gratia of Rs5 lakh for the next of kin of the dead and Rs1 lakh for those seriously injured in the train mishap near Tundla junction in Uttar Pradesh.

Railway ministry spokesperson Anil Kumar Saxena said, Rs10,000 will be given for simple injuries.

Amid dense fog, the Bhiwani-Kanpur Central Kalindi Express hit the stationary Kanpur-bound Shram Shakti Express from rear near Nitawali-Tundla crossing at around 8.15am, killing three persons and injuring 14 others.

While work is on to restore the track at the mishap spot, a number of trains have been diverted via other routes.

Officials said Lucknow-bound Shatabdi Express has been diverted via Khurja, Hapur and Moradabad.

Muri Express from Jammu-Tawi to Tatanagar and New Delhi- Rajinder Nagar Sampurn Kranti Express have been diverted via Aligarh and Chandausi, they said.

Kalka-Howrah Kalka Mail, Seemanchal Express from Anand Vihar to Jogvani and North-East Express from New Delhi to Guwahati have been diverted via Moradabad.
