Pratibha Patil donates Rs1 lakh for Leh victims relief fund

President Pratibha Patil today donated Rs1 lakh from her personal fund to the prime minister's National Relief Fund for the rehabilitation of the victims of the devastating cloudburst that hit Leh early this month.

The money would be used for the rehabilitation of the poor and needy affected by the cloudburst on the night of August 5 and 6, Rashtrapati Bhavan officials said.

Prime minister Manmohan Singh, who had visited Leh recently, had already announced a Rs125 crore package from his National Relief Fund.
