Newly elected Madhya Pradesh BJP president, Prabhat Jha said here today that he would strive to retain power in the state for the third time in a row.

"It is an extraordinary honour for an ordinary worker like me. We will work hard to ensure that the BJP comes back to power for the third time in a row," Jha told a press conference here.

He said that besides Bhopal, he will also have his offices in tribal-dominated Jhabua, Mandla and Chhindwara districts of the state to focus on the problems of tribals.

Jha also announced on the occasion that he will soon declare his property to ensure transparency in public life and added that other office bearers will also do so in due course.

He said that his new team will be constituted after consultation with the senior party leaders and added that till then the present team will continue to work as before.

To a question on reservations expressed by former Union minister and seven-time MP Sumitra Mahajan on his election, Jha said that she was present in the party office when the election process was going on yesterday.

He also said that Mahajan is a very respected and senior leader for him and he would not comment on a leader of her stature.

On the issue of re-induction of senior saffron leader Uma Bharti back into the BJP, he only remarked that she is a very big leader and he is a small party leader.

When asked about the state's industry minister, Kailash Vijaywargiya's alleged involvement in the land scam in Indore, he said that the matter is being probed by the Lokayukta and unless the inquiry is completed he will not comment on the issue.

However, he said that once a person is proved guilty by the court of law, he or she will not remain in the party for a second.
