Polls to five Rajya Sabha seats from Punjab on March 26

The date of notification will be tomorrow while the last date for filing nominations would be March 16 and the last date of withdrawal is March 18.

Elections to five Rajya Sabha seats from Punjab will be held on March 26.
    
The term of Ashwani Kumar and Dharampal Sabharwal and M S Gill  (Congress) and Naresh Gujral and Varinder Singh (SAD) will expire next month and polls are scheduled for these vacancies, an official release said.
    
The date of notification will be tomorrow while the last date for filing nominations would be March 16 and the last date of withdrawal is March 18.
    
The date of polls has been fixed for March 26.
     
According to the present strength of the Assembly, SAD-BJP will get three RS seats and Congress two.
     
The 117-member House has 51 MLAs of SAD, Congress 42, BJP 19 and five are Independents.
     
The state has seven Rajya Sabha seats.
