Polls 2011: Congress regime disastrous for Assam, says Shaina NC

BJP youth leader Shaina NC today said the 10 year-long Congress regime in Assam had been a 'disastrous' one and urged the youth to vote for the saffron party as it has 'always delivered' across the country.

"Assam has the status of being the number one corrupt state in the country. Corruption actually started in this state in 2001 with the N C Hills scam. The state lost Rs 1000 crore in it and is has been losing money," she told newsmen here.

Shaina appealed the youth of Assam to give BJP a chance in the ongoing polls.

"If you are a thinking youth of Assam, my appeal to the youth when the nation is just boiling and bursting with corruption is give the BJP a chance and we will show you what development is."

BJP, she said, was committed to empowerment of women by providing better health and education facilities to them.

"Women are the kingmakers in society being about 50 per cent of the population. The BJP thinks about women and their progress."

If voted to power in Assam, BJP would provide free medical treatment, women constables would be posted in every police station and women commission set up in every district, she said.

Claiming the impact of Congress had come down after the first phase of polling on April 4, Shaina said, "the peoples support has made the BJP confident of even better results in the second phase".

She later interacted with Gauhati University students to campaign for her party.
