Police frees 97-year-old woman from locked up room in Vadodara

During police interrogation, her son Pravin said that his mother was not ready to move to a new residence where he shifted.

Police today freed 97-year-old Narmadaben Kayasth, who was kept in a locked room of her house allegedly by her son in Raopura locality in the city.
   
The police said that they were making arrangements to keep her in an old age home.

Vadodara deputy commissioner of police, Gagandeep Gambhir said, "Her son Pravin Kayasth, a retired employee of the SSG Hospital, had deserted her there and she had been staying there in inhuman conditions for the past couple of months."

After receiving complaints from residents in the area, the police rushed to the spot and freed her from the locked up
room of the house.

During police interrogation, her son Pravin said that his mother was not ready to move to a new residence where he shifted. Pravin's wife told the police that she had ill-treated her mother-in-law when they were staying together.
