On Monday, Chandkheda police arrested one Lucey Martin Christian, who had bought a flat from one Morris Christian, who allegedly forged documents to make the sale. On December 16, Himmat Kanani and his brother Shashikant, both Navrangpura residents, had lodged a complaint against Morris for illegally selling their two houses located at Subhashnagar in Chandkheda without their consent. The value of the two flats is around Rs1 crore.
On the same day, Vejalpur police caught one Rajesh Jagire, a resident of Shivalay Apartments, who had been absconding ever since he killed his wife, Sunita on December 9. Jagire, a carpenter, fled to Rajasthan after hammering his wife to death. A team of cops had gone to Rajasthan to arrest him on Monday.
On Tuesday, Gujarat University police held one Shankar Dantani, an accomplice in a purse-snatching from a parked car near Vijay crossroads on December 16. The bystanders had managed to catch the other snatcher, one Mahesh, and handed him over to police, but Shankar fled from the spot with a purse containing Rs75,000 cash. GU police nabbed Shankar from Vadaj area, but could not recover the stolen purse.
Meanwhile, Chandkheda police arrested one Ashok Desai for threatening one Kamlesh Shrimali to pay Rs5.5 lakh more. According to his complaint on December 14, Shrimali had taken a loan of Rs1.5 lakh from Rakesh Parikh and had given him Rs13 lakh as repayment in one year. However, Parikh and his accomplice Desai had threatened Shrimali and demanded an additional sum of Rs5.55 lakh.
