Police arrests seven people involved in drug smuggling in J&K

With the arrest of seven people, police today claimed to have busted a gang of drug peddlers.
    
The arrests were made in last ten days, police said, adding acting on the clues provided by three drug smugglers arrested earlier, they have yesterday arrested the kingpin of the gang, Tafazul Khaleel Wani from Batmaloo bus stand along with his three accomplices.
    
Earlier, on November 24 police had arrested two residents of Punjab, Manjeet Kour alias Inderjeet and Gurnam Singh for allegedly smuggling around 30 kilograms of 'Fuki', a rare quality of 'charas' from Srinagar to Punjab.
    
Acting on the information provided by the duo, police on November 25 arrested a woman, Haseena from the outskirts of the city and allegedly recovered one kg of 'charas', they added.
    
The accused have been remanded to custody till December 16, they said.
